"Ahhhhh....what a perfect day"

To finish off Eli's birthday party day, we made a last minute visit to the Drive Inn theater in town to see Night at the Museum 2 and Star Trek with our friends Kris and Diane and their 3 kids. By this point both my kids were partied out and full of sugar, but we still had a great time. Eli stayed awake for both movies...yes, thats until 2am! Zach fell asleep after Night at the Museum was over.....so did Mommy. Just as the first movie began, Eli cuddles up in his seat and says "ahhhhh...what a perfect day". I think he enjoyed his birthday. :) Thanks to everyone who made his birthday weekend special.

Happy 6th Birthday Elijah Nicholas!

Is he REALLY 6 already? I cant believe that 6 years ago we gave birth to our first baby, and he's already so big. Time goes way too fast when youre raising children. If only we could keep them tiny forever.

The weather threatned some, but never dropped any rain on the party. We were prepared with borrowed canopies just in case...but the weather ended up perfect, cool and comfortable.

Alot of Eli's school friends came to help celebrate as well. They all had a great time playing on the swing set, bouncing in the bounce house, eating lots of yummy foods, making balloon animals, and just having fun!

Birthdays are very special to me. I want my boys to remember every birthday when they grow up. Ive always allowed them to pick a theme for their party, then I try to go to town and make the most of it. This year Eli chose Clowns. Not a circus, CLOWNS. Well I really tried, but it did end up a little bit on the the circus side..but he never complained.
One of the traditions I have for the boys parties, is that I always make a special cake for them. Most times I try to make a single little cake for them, and something else for everyone else to eat. This year I had to step up my talents on the cake department. Recently we've added the show Ace of Cakes to our DVR to record. This along with a few other tv shows, the boys love to watch before bedtime. Well if any of you have ever watched Ace of Cakes...they make some amazing cakes. So of course Eli asked if we could make his cake that cool. So I went to the decorate shop and had my first attempt with Fondant. It turned out pretty cute for my first try at the stuff and Eli just loved it, and thats what matters most.

Blowing our his candles....SIX of them!

His good buddy Cooper. They played soccer together this fall and are so alike its scary. Cooper was also brave enough to help Eli eat the blue fondant cake, along with the clowns hand..and he tried to take on the head but I think they were both getting a little over sugar'd at that point so I took it away from them both.

Before.....

....and after.

What a great birthday. I still cant believe he's six, and finishing up Kindergarten this week. Seems like yesterday he was a tiny little guy in my tummy...and now he's a big boy cracking us up daily and impressing us with how smart he's getting. Im such a proud Mamma. Happy Birthday Eli.

Camping in the backyard Memorial Day weekend.

Last year we talked alot about camping in the backyard. We camp at campgrounds, but thought it would be fun to do in our yard when we just couldnt get away for the whole weekend. But before we knew it the summer was gone and it was too cold to do so. So for Memorial Day weekend, Eli asked when we could camp in the backyard like we said we would. So that saturday we put up the tent, put on our PJ's, fired of the bbq for some smores and camped in the backyard! It was fun for the boys, but Mommy was misereable. It was cold and my foot was still pretty achy. But Im glad the boys had fun, and we were able to finally camp in the backyard.

Happy Birthday Jenna.

What a fun birthday party! Our friends had their daughters birthday party at a really cool bouncy house place. The kids had a great time, and slept GREAT that night.

The only way I could get them to smile for the camera was to let them do silly faces first.

....and, he's tired.
