Eli turns 9!
Its so hard for me to wrap my mind around this kid growing up so fast before our eyes. How has 9 years gone by this quickly? We couldnt be more proud of the amazingly smart, carring, funny and handsome little man our baby has grown into. We celebrated 9 years with a pokemon/bowling party with a few friends from school.
Can my 9 year old really have the same size foot as me?
Its moments like this that make me happy I have two boys. If Eli were a girl, Id be fighting over shoes right about now explaining that my sandals were my sandals and that no you may not borrow them. At 9 years old Eli has the same size foot as myself. Right now he also hits me right at mid chin level in height (yes he karate chops me in the chin when measuring). I have no doubt that in the next couple of years I'll be karate chopping him in the chin as I measure how much taller he is than I am, because he will pass me up in height in no time and yes paybacks will happen.
Crazy Keanas Candlyland Adventure
So I purchased a few resturaunt.com vouchers a while ago and one of them happened to be this place called Keana's Candyland. Jake refused to go, saying it looked rediculous but then when I read some reviews on the place I told him he had to go to protect us. I have to say when we pulled up we looked at eachother and laughed. We walked in, and laughed again. It was an interesting place to say the least. But once we walked through and really began to appreciate all the artwork (and clutter), we started to sort of like the place. Then we sat down to enjoy a baked elephant ear (which were surprisingly yummy!) and chat with the owners. We soon had the giggles as the kids were encouraged to slide down the stairs by the owners after we were full of sugary goodness that was on the elephant ear. It was an interesting experience that somehow made us feel all giggly and childlike as we grew a sort of appreciation for the place and what it represents. Do we still think the place is crazy? Of course! Would we recommend you go check it out? If you have kids, of course. Would we go back? Probably not, but it was definatley an experience and memory that will make us laugh for years and years to come.
Camping at Barview Jetty
We recently found a campground near Garibaldi that we thought we'd give a try. An early season camp trip found us in a very empty campground pretty much all to ourselves...it was so peaceful! The weather was chilly at night, and chilly but comfortable durring the day. We went clamming, expored the campground and beach, ate lots of yummy camp food, and explored the barview jetty. It was a perfectly peaceful camp trip. So much so, that we'll definatley be taking an early season camp trip there more often.
